More Gym Videos

Leigha did a trial gymnastics class last night. At first, she was a bit overwhelmed during warm-up but eventually got into it once the kids went to the actual gym.

Halloween Costumes

So dad and I were discussing Halloween costumes last night.

Last year, Leigha went as a panda. Granted she really did "go" anywhere except to my aunt's and cousin's house but she was cute anyways!
This year we discussed a Dora costume since she LOVES dora. But the costumes I found looked REAL cheap and were so not near worth the price.
Luckily, we have a whole month.

Catching Up

Ok, from the ticker, I see that my daughter is 649 days past due. Obviously, I am not still pregnant. I have attached video of Leigha at the wonderful age of 20 months.

She was born via cesarean December 14, 2005 weighing 8 lbs and 13 ounces. Here she is at birth:

I would have never imagined being a mom would be as great as this!

Finally a Picture of Mommy & Daddy

32 Days to GO!!!

My 1st baby shower

I thought that this was a cute picture of my niece and I at my baby shower this weekend.

She and her brother were a big help when it came time to opening gifts. Before then, we really didn't see her brother because he was too busy playing pool and feeding his face. Gotta love my babycakes.

It was a really great shower and very well organized. The place was great. The food was great. But the best part was that everyone there loved my baby :). I was very proud of myself for not crying.

I would like to give a special thanks to the Daisies for throwing the shower for me:

Any Day Now!!!

Well baby girl as reality may have it, you could be here any day now. 32 weeks, 40 weeks, lol in writing that’s all the same considering you will come when you’re ready. I think I am finally mentally prepared. Not to say I wasn’t before, but ME a daddy.... LOL Grant it I think I will be great. A little over protective (I’m Crazy), but cool, calm, and collected. I think I will have you a T-shirt made that will read, " Don’t mess with me, My Daddy's WATCHING". Oh by the way here is a picture of me. The name under the picture has a very special meaning. I'll explain later. Just so you know you're "Lil Beedo" now!!!!!...Daddy

1st Childbirth Class

Last night, Daddy and I attended our Childbirth Preparation Class. Items needed for class: 2 pillows and a blanket. Daddy wanted his own pillow because he didn’t want to feel the hard floor so we had 3 pillows and a blanket.

The class introduced themselves and voiced their fears or concerns about childbirth. Daddy spoke for us until I chimed in on my fears. I fear the pain of childbirth and watching graphic videos in class. Daddy doesn’t have any fears (well at least he didn’t voice any).

The class participated in an oral group True/False quiz about pregnancy. Daddy was very good and getting the answers. Mommy was trying to have mental control of her bladder but eventually lost and had to waddle during the quiz to the restroom.

We practiced breathing techniques and pelvic exercises. Daddy had plenty of jokes during the class at that point. I won’t comment further.

Then the instructor did the unthinkable. She showed a childbirth video! How dare she do that in my childbirth class? I would rather go through it without knowing what it looks like versus being petrified by my overactive imagination. Now, I have 2 more months before I give birth to think about that video.

The nastiest part was not the deliver of the child but the delivery of the placenta. THAT WAS THE GROSSEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN! It looked like a stomach full of goop being pulled from "that area." It looked slimy, bloody, and it was HUGE. It was the size of my head. I can’t even properly describe what it looks like. Just take my word for it: It was GROSS.

Maybe class will be better next week…I will let you know.

WE GOT A CRIB!!!

I am proud to report that Daddy and I purchased a crib this weekend! It was the color I wanted and it did the things I wanted (covert to a full size bed). PLUS, it was $100 cheaper than what we expected to pay. Mommy is really happy!!! Oh, Daddy is happy too.

It didn’t take us long to pick the one we wanted and amazingly we both agreed without discussion. The sad part about the trip was that we drove Mommy’s car and the crib would not fit in my trunk (even with the back seat down). So we called our good friend Tommy (who lives in Valley Ranch – not too far from the store). Tommy transported the crib for us and even agreed to let us store it in his garage.

THANKS TOMMY!

I AM SO HAPPY!

PS 67 Days to GO!!!

Uncle Thomas

This is Uncle Thomas (Mommy's little brother). He is a very unique individual! However, Thomas and Mommy have similar mannerisms but he is on another level.

Uncle Thomas can play the trombone, baritone, and I don’t know what other instrument(s). He thinks that he is a swell dancer but mommy says that the jury is still out on that one.

You will meet him one day! I don’t know when but you will. Lucky you! (LOL)

Leigha's Mommy Has TOO much time on her hands!

Well baby girl, you’re almost done… Lol like a Lemon cake…As you can see, daddy has been a little busy and mommy hasn’t…She has posted a million times WOW…But never the less, you will see how we will always be on the go, but being very productive. From all the articles we read, we’re told for the most part you’re cooked but just browning. I’m sure you’re perfect. Your mom and I spat day in and out about you and I have decided I have first dibbs on holding you, no exception!!!!!! (Tuki) Our biggest puzzle is to know from whom you will get what. I have made a bet with the world that you will be my clone. My sister talks about you all the time and is so excited of your pending arrival. So get ready, you will a little star. Cameras flashing, red carpet, the whole 9 yards… 72 days to go, I bet about 60...Stay warm in there baby girl it’s getting cold…Kisses and hugs ……Daddy

WARNING TO DADDY!

I just gave him a congratulatory note and now he must receive a WARNING!!!

Dad has until Friday to post to this website! I have given him a verbal warning and now this notice serves as his written warning. If you fail to comply, I will be forced to put your 8th grade year book picture on this website. LOL

PS. 72 DAYS TO GO!!!

Way to go DADDY!!!

Congratulations to Daddy for helping Franklin D. Roosevelt High School Band win Best Percussion Section at the Battle of the High School Bands this past weekend for the second year in a row!

Daddy worked very hard with the I.C.E. (drum section) to accomplish this feat. We are very proud of him. Granted, mommy was in bed when the competition occurred but I was there in spirit!

I am sure Leigha will hear all about the I.C.E. when she gets here. But just know that Daddy started it in 1994 and they have been winning competitions ever since.

Good Job Daddy!!!

Cousin Abreah - 6 weeks

Cousin Abreah is getting to be a big girl. She is starting to look more and more like her mom and her mom's twin sister everyday. It is so scary how fast babies change and how quickly they grow up.

I need to invest in a nice digital camera because I will probably take Leigha’s picture everyday. Well, at least once a week and put it in my SCRAPBOOK!!

That reminds me, I haven’t picked that up in a long time. Opps!!

My Baby's Head is NOT THAT BIG

So I missed posting last week because I knew we had a doctor’s appointment Friday where I was going to have a sonogram.

My baby’s head is not that big!!! Thank you to all the wonderful people (my mother included) who have said that Leigha has a big head. A few friends have even said that I will have to have a cesarean delivery.
I told Daddy that if she does have a big head then it will be his entire fault. He responded by saying that I have a big head as well. A few of my friends agreed!

ANYWAYS…

As of my visit Friday, I have a net gain of 3 pounds (lost 2 since last visit). Leigha weighs 2 pounds and 2 ounces. She is also measuring 2 days ahead of her due date now but they didn’t change the date.

I love my little girl, big head and all.

Meet the twins

Kennedy (aka Mookie) - My niece

  1. The only other person, besides mommy & daddy, concerned with Leigha day and night. She always wants to know if she is moving, if I had a good day, how I am feeling, and what I have eaten. She is also my biggest critic when it comes to junk food and it being healthy for Leigha.
  2. Mookieisms – She told me the other night that she was about to put this Kindergartener against the wall for always flirting with her brother. She also told me that her cousin was hanging out (Leigha) when my shirt lifted and exposed my belly. I told my sister she needs to write a book about mookieisms.

Kendall (aka Baby Cakes or Big K)- My nephew

  1. Innocence - He has this innocence to him that is so adoring at first. But when you see his other side, you still remember that he is so sweet and kind and loves his Auntie very much. He also loves Leigha very much. Every time I see him, he runs to me, rubs my belly, and says BABY in a voice that would have appeared as a character on Fat Albert.
  2. Athleticism - I have never seen such a reserved person explode during sports. He is an AWESOME soccer player. I hope that he remembers his favorite person in the world when he signs a Gatorade contract at 10.

I love them both dearly like they are my own. They expect to see me at their games. They have even told me that they want me to drag Leigha there too.

Abreah

This is your future best friend/cousin Abreah at 4 weeks. Ya'll are going to be only a few months apart. Your dad is holding her and playing with his new $2000 phone! No comment on the latter statement!!!

Preparing for Ms. Leigha...

Mommy and Daddy were SUPPOSED to window shop for bedding this past Sunday but we were unable to pass up the Snoopy & Family baby bedding for Leigha.

We purchased the 6 piece set (includes: comforter, bumper, fitted sheet, diaper stacker, valance, and bedskirt), mobile, wall border, a musical Snoopy, and a snoopy blanket. The Burlington we visited didn't have the wall hangings or the lamp or else we would have picked those up too. So, I just put them on our registry today and hope that someone will go to a Burlington that stocks them (actually, they had the lamp but the only one available was the floor model which was broken).

Daddy wants to buy the crib and other furniture within the next few weeks. He is so excited! I am as well. I am so ready to laugh at daddy as he tries to put the crib together. I put a few up together several years ago but I am NOT saying that I am a professional.

Can't wait to see you baby girl,
Mommy

98 days and counting

Leigha,

Waiting for you is like waiting for Christmas. In January you know what you want but you know you can't have it till Christmas. Funny thing is, you will be that toy that will never be forgotten. Surely not something we can place in a old box in the closet.

Till Then Daddy !

Rambles

My wonderful coworkers have “motivated” me to write this week’s blog. So I will begin this message with a shout out to them and a special shout out to Susan for helping the html challenged (me) put the ticker up.

Thoughts for the week:

Glad that dad is back from his sabbatical. I didn’t want him to go to Houston in wake of the flood of victims of Hurricane Katrina but we are just going to say that he is back with us happier and more importantly, unscathed.

I was very sick Monday night and all day Tuesday. I am glad that I already used baby wipes for my “personal needs” or else I would have had another issue arise from my sickness (TMI – he he). But I did manage to scrub my bathroom sink free from the stain of vomited fruit cocktail. I am so not looking forward to the kid germs that Leigha will bring home. For some reason,

Leigha is moving a lot less. I think she is running out of room. When she kicks, it hurts but I am happy that I feel her move at all.

Dad wants to go see a scary movie tonight. I told him that it might make me go into labor. SO, if I am not heard from just leave your congratulatory notes!

Wow, when I created the ticker I had no idea how many days I had left. At one point, Dad would give me a daily countdown but I told him to stop because the 210 days and 197 days were not that encouraging. But as of this post, 99 days left!!! I am truly overjoyed. I am 6 ½ months pregnant!!! (Yes, I love exclamation points!J)

Ok, that is enough until next week. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hmmmm...My first time

I have decided to start blogging since the blog bug is running around my office. My original plan was to start this when I was 1 month away from my due date. My memory is almost non-existent and I figured a journal of sorts would remind me of what I went through to help me decide if I ever want to do this again (so far so good).

I wanted a place where dad and I could post pictures of our upcoming bundle of joy. Also, since I am cheap and don't like paying for text messages, I wanted a place to put her pictures once she has graced this world with her presence (sounds like something dad would say).

To my sister: don't be jealous
To my mom: you can access the internet...it is easy... you can do it!
To my brother: you will never see this...hmm what do you use the internet for?...nevermind, I don't want to know.

To Leigha's dad: GET YOUR OWN!!! j/k you can have fun too.

Love Always,
Mommy

Post from Daddy
